Uni­versity Pro­fessor - salary grade W2

of Sci­ence and Tech­no­logy Stud­ies.

The pos­i­tion is sup­por­ted by funds of the Ber­lin-Branden­burg Academy of Sci­ences and Human­it­ies (BBAW). The pos­i­tion is filled in cooper­a­tion with the BBAW. The pos­i­tion is announced for five years, a per­spect­ive for expand­ing the term is to be developed.

Work­ing field:

Research and teach­ing in the field of Soci­ology of Sci­ence and Tech­no­logy Stud­ies. The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate is expec­ted to cooper­ate with other reflect­ive fields on sci­ence and tech­no­logy, such as His­tory of Sci­ence, His­tory of Tech­no­logy, Sci­ence and Lit­er­at­ure, Philo­sophy of Sci­ence, or Gender Stud­ies, and hence to fur­ther inter­dis­cip­lin­ary col­lab­or­a­tion. Cooper­a­tion with the Ber­lin Cen­ter for the His­tory of Know­ledge will be an advant­age. In teach­ing, the suc­cess­ful can­did­ate will par­ti­cip­ate in the MA pro­gram „Geschichte und Kul­tur von Wis­senschaft und Tech­nik“ and the Inter­dis­cip­lin­ary parts of the BA pro­grams „Kul­tur und Tech­nik“. Courses can be given in Ger­man or Eng­lish lan­guage and will be opened in appro­pri­ate ways to the TU pro­grams in soci­ology. The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate will also sup­port the BBAW in research­ing and report­ing for policy con­stult­ing, as well as in mon­it­or­ing and ana­lyz­ing the effects of sec­u­lar devel­op­ments in research such as digit­al­iz­a­tion. She or he will dir­ect an Inter­dis­cip­lin­ary Research group at the BBAW and con­sult oth­ers. Due to the activ­it­ies at the academy, the pos­i­tion has a reduced teach­ing oblig­a­tion of five hours per week.

Require­ments:

Can­did­ates must qual­ify for appoint­ment accord­ing to the require­ments of § 100 Ber­lHG, includ­ing a uni­versity degree, an excel­lent sci­entific record demon­strated by a excel­lent PhD and a postdoc­toral degree (Habil­it­a­tion) or equi­val­ent achieve­ments in the field of Soci­ology of Sci­ence and Tech­no­logy/ Sci­ence and Tech­no­logy Stud­ies, ped­ago­gic and edu­ca­tional cap­ab­il­it­ies, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for more inform­a­tion see TUB web­site, quick access no. 144242).

Excel­lent research record in the those fields. Exper­i­ence in inter­dis­cip­lin­ary cooper­a­tion with other reflect­ive fields on sci­ence and tech­no­logy is an advant­age.
