Multi-Pro­ces­sor Design for Auto­mated Driv­ing Plat­form

Work­ing field:

The rese­arch is focu­sed on the devel­op­ment of a multi-pro­ces­sor based sys­tem used wit­hin a plat­form for auto­mated driv­ing. The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate (m/f) will be invol­ved as a rese­arch asso­ci­ate in the natio­nal rese­arch pro­ject tar­get­ing the devel­op­ment of pro­ces­sing mod­ules as well as smart recon­fig­ur­able sen­sor data pro­ces­sing units for the auto­mot­ive app­lic­a­tions. The pos­i­tion is cou­p­led with res­pons­ib­il­ity to invest­ig­ate innov­at­ive solu­tions in the field of fault tol­er­ant sys­tem design and per­form the imple­ment­a­tions of hard­ware and soft­ware IPs for demon­strat­ing the func­tion­al­ity of the solu­tions. Addi­tion­ally, the sys­tem integ­ra­tion and val­id­a­tion in an auto­mated driv­ing plat­form will be per­for­med. On the rese­arch side the main chal­len­ges will be dyna­mic alloc­a­tion of resour­ces (power, per­form­ance, reli­ab­il­ity) in order to optim­ally address the app­lic­a­tion needs.
A PhD degree can be pur­sued and will be encour­aged.

Require­ments:

The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate (m/f) has a mas­ter’s degree in Elec­tri­cal Engin­eer­ing/Com­puter Sci­ence with the spe­cial­iz­a­tion on digi­tal elec­tron­ics or com­puter engin­eer­ing. It is import­ant that the can­did­ate has the strong back­ground on digi­tal elec­tro­nic, pro­ces­sor archi­tec­ture, and embed­ded design, as well as solid base­line know­ledge of digi­tal sig­nal pro­ces­sing and fault tol­er­ant com­put­ing. Skills in at least one HDL and one pro­gram­ming lan­guage are essen­tial: VHDL (or Ver­i­log) and C/C++. The know­ledge of Sys­temC, Sys­tem­Ver­i­log, or embed­ded pro­gram­ming lan­guage is appre­ci­ated, but not man­dat­ory. Hands-on exper­i­ence in embed­ded pro­gram­ming, elec­tro­nic sys­tem level (ESL) flow, and FPGA design flow and tools is appre­ci­ated. Indus­trial exper­i­ence would be an advant­age.

The can­did­ate (m/f) is expec­ted to be highly motiv­ated with very good exper­i­men­tal and the­or­et­ical skills. Very good oral and writ­ten skills in Eng­lish are man­dat­ory.
