Rese­arch Assist­ant – 0.5 work­ing time - salary grade 13 TV-L Ber­liner Hoch­schu­len – 2nd qual­i­fic­a­tion period (Post­Doc)

Work­ing field:

  • Deli­ver teach­ing inputs to design stu­dios (Mas­ter in Archi­tec­ture, Mas­ter in Urban Design), pre­par­a­tion and deliv­ery of lec­tures, sem­inars and study trips (requi­red lan­gua­ges Ger­man and Eng­lish).
  • Assist in the draft­ing and deliv­ery of aca­demic rese­arch pro­pos­als with fol­low­ing focal points
  • Impact of migra­tion on the urb­an­isa­tion pro­ces­ses in Ger­many and in the inter­na­tio­nal con­text.
  • Trans­lo­cal urban prac­tices build­ing on the cur­rent DFG-fun­ded rese­arch „Transna­tio­nale Pro­duk­tion­sräume“ (MI 1893/2-1) at the Hab­itat Unit.
  • Con­trib­ute to a plan­ned inter­dis­cip­lin­ary PhD School through teach­ing inputs.
  • Assist the Chair in con­cep­tu­al­ising and deliv­er­ing teach­ing assign­ments, in the man­age­ment of rese­arch pro­jects and other organ­isa­tio­nal tasks at the Hab­itat Unit.


  • Suc­cess­ful can­did­ates must have com­ple­ted a uni­ver­sity degree (Dip­lom, Mas­ter or equi­val­ent) in urban soci­ology, soci­ology, urban geo­gra­phy or rela­ted cour­ses and com­ple­ted their PhD in a sub­ject rela­ted to urban stud­ies.
  • Sub­stant­ive exper­i­ence in deliv­er­ing inter­dis­cip­lin­ary rese­arch and teach­ing wit­hin the fields of urban stud­ies, pre­fer­ably in the areas of urban devel­op­ment and migra­tion.
  • Extens­ive know­ledge of inter­dis­cip­lin­ary rese­arch meth­ods and urban the­ory, includ­ing a know­ledge of crit­ical urban the­ory rela­ted to urb­an­iz­a­tion pro­ces­ses in the Glo­bal South.
  • Inter­na­tio­nal rese­arch exper­i­ence, pre­fer­ably in Eng­lish-speak­ing coun­tries.
  • Excel­lent Eng­lish lan­guage skills.
