The position comprises research and teaching at the Chair of Materials Engineering. The research focus will be within the fields of microstructural and mechanical characterisation of materials on different lengthscales, nanofatigue, nanoindentation, and knowledge dynamics in the engineering sciences, where we expect active and independent representation of the chair in the current application process for a research unit. The successful candidate will further be responsible for our nanoindenter regarding scientific, methodological and technical topics. Representation of the chair on national and international conferences and the publication of results in recognized journals are mandatory aspects of the research work.
Regarding teaching, the chair offers bachelor and master courses for students of mechanical, transport, industrial, and medical engineering and of materials science. The successful candidate has to give lectures in materials science, biomaterials, and bioinspired materials independently. We further expect full commitment in the qualified supervision of bachelor- and master theses.
The future colleague further needs to support the head of the chair regarding organisational, managerial, and public relations tasks.
successfully finished scientific university studies, holding a diploma, master or equivalent degree in materials science, preferably with a focus on anorganic-nonmetallic materials
successfully finished dissertation in materials science, holding a Dr.-Ing., PhD or equivalent degree, preferably achieved in the field of microstructural and mechanical characterisation of ceramics or biological hard tissues
Minimum three years of experience in a regular academic or industrial position
profound knowledge and practical experience in the fields of structure-property-relationships of zirconia and dentine, nanoindentation and nanofatigue of ceramics, metals and biological hard tissues
several years of teaching experience of materials engineering, biomaterials and bioinspired materials courses, and of using digital activation methods for groups of several hundreds of students;
several years of experience in the organisation of a university department, specifically regarding teaching courses (lectures, lab courses) and digital examinations for big groups
knowledge in the field of knowledge dynamics in the engineering sciences
very good knowledge of German and English in writing, reading, and speaking, so that teaching is possible in both languages
experience and talent in performing scientific experiments;
structured working style, organisational skills and good time management;
team working capability, sense of responsibility, and reliability;
competences in support of young scientists and women in science are of advantage.
thorough interest in research and teaching in materials science as well as in organisational and leadership tasks
