The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate / PhD Posi­tion / Post­doc Posi­tion

In the Depart­ment of Psy­cho­logy, Insti­tute of Cli­ni­cal Psy­cho­logy and Psy­cho­the­rapy, at the Chair of Cli­ni­cal Psy­cho­logy and Beha­vio­ral Neu­ro­sci­ence, there are several posi­ti­ons to be fil­led as of 1st of Octo­ber 2017 for initi­ally 3 years (pro­lon­ga­tion pos­si­ble). The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz - Wiss­ZeitVG).
Depen­ding on the cur­rent qua­li­fi­ca­ti­ons of the app­li­cants, the posi­ti­ons ent­ail 50% of the full­time weekly hours for PhDs and/or 100% of the full­time weekly hours for post­docs. The posi­ti­ons aim at obtai­ning fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion (e.g. PhD, habi­li­ta­tion the­sis).
The newly esta­blis­hed Chair inves­ti­ga­tes the neu­ral bases of (1) socio-affec­tive and -cogni­tive pro­ces­ses, (2) their alte­ra­ti­ons in psy­cho­pa­tho­logy and (3) pla­s­ti­city through psy­cho­thera-peutic inter­ven­tion.
As one of Ger­many’s excel­lence uni­ver­si­ties, the TU Dres­den offers out­stan­ding rese­arch infra­struc­ture with the Neu­ro­i­ma­ging Centre (3 Tesla MRI, MRI-com­pa­ti­ble 64-cha­nal EEG- and peri­pheral phy­sio­logy-sys­tems, TMS, Multi­com­pu­ter-Lab for beha­vio­ral assess­ments), the Centre for Cli­ni­cal Epi­de­mio­logy and Lon­gi­tu­di­nal Stu­dies and the Out­pa­ti­ent Cli­nic.

Work­ing field:

  • study coordin­a­tion;
  • clin­ical-dia­gnostic inter­views, exper­i­mental/neur­os­cientific stud­ies;
  • super­vi­sion of stu­dents;
  • data ana­lysis; sci­entific pub­lish­ing.
Own research and pub­lic­a­tion ini­ti­at­ives are wel­come and expli­citly sup­por­ted. Con­tri­bu­tion to plan­ning and exe­cu­tion of courses in the Mas­ter pro­gram Clin­ical Psy­cho­logy and Psy­cho­ther­apy and par­ti­cip­a­tion in aca­demic ser­vices and admin­is­tra­tion.


  • very good uni­versity degree (Mas­ter or Dip­loma) in psy­cho­logy or a related field;
  • exper­i­ence in neur­os­cientific meth­od­o­logy (fMRI, EEG, fNIRS);
  • interest in clin­ical-psy­cho­lo­gical and psy­cho­ther­apy research;
  • sub­stan­tial expert­ise in stat­ist­ics, exper­i­mental psy­cho­logy and clin­ical dia­gnostics;
  • good know­ledge of Eng­lish lan­guage, Ger­man is advant­age­ous;
  • very good com­mu­nic­a­tion, organ­isa­tion and team­work­ing skills;
  • work­ing hour flex­ib­il­ity and pro­fes­sional hand­ling of patient con­tacts;
  • expert­ise in or will­ing­ness to learn at least one pro­gram­ming lan­guage (e.g. MAT­LAB).
Addi­tional require­ments for Postdocs:
  • PhD degree;
  • pub­lic­a­tions in inter­na­tional peer-reviewed journ­als.
Star­ted/advanced train­ing in psy­cho­ther­apy (CBT) is advant­age­ous.
