Research Assistant - 0.5 working time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD)
Participation in research and teaching in the field of liquid-crystalline binary mixtures at interfaces with particular emphasis on ordered liquid-crystalline phases. In particular the focus should be on the phase behavior of biaxially symmetric phases out of components of uniaxial symmetry. This phase behavior will be studied by means classical density functional theory or phenomenological theories. The theoretical work will be carried out in close collaboration with Professor G. Jackson (Imperial College London). In addition, participation in the administration of the computer cluster of the research group is expected
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in chemistry or physics with a field of specialization in theoretical physics or theoretical chemistry. He/she should have knowledge of a relevant programming language (C, C++, and/or Fortran9X). Profound knowledge of Statistical Physics of soft condensed matter systems is a necessary prerequisite, a good command of the English and German language is required as is the ability to work in a team and the dedication to carry out the scientific work in an autonomous way.
