Research Assist­ant - 0.5 work­ing time - salary grade E13 TV-L Ber­liner Hoch­schu­len - 1st qual­i­fic­a­tion period (PhD)

Work­ing field:

Par­ti­cip­a­tion in research and teach­ing in the field of liquid-crys­tal­line bin­ary mix­tures at inter­faces with par­tic­u­lar emphasis on ordered liquid-crys­tal­line phases. In par­tic­u­lar the focus should be on the phase beha­vior of biaxi­ally sym­met­ric phases out of com­pon­ents of uni­axial sym­metry. This phase beha­vior will be stud­ied by means clas­sical dens­ity func­tional the­ory or phe­nomen­o­lo­gical the­or­ies. The the­or­et­ical work will be car­ried out in close col­lab­or­a­tion with Pro­fessor G. Jack­son (Imper­ial Col­lege Lon­don). In addi­tion, par­ti­cip­a­tion in the admin­is­tra­tion of the com­puter cluster of the research group is expec­ted

Require­ments:

Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in chem­istry or phys­ics with a field of spe­cial­iz­a­tion in the­or­et­ical phys­ics or the­or­et­ical chem­istry. He/she should have know­ledge of a rel­ev­ant pro­gram­ming lan­guage (C, C++, and/or For­tran9X). Pro­found know­ledge of Stat­ist­ical Phys­ics of soft con­densed mat­ter sys­tems is a neces­sary pre­requis­ite, a good com­mand of the Eng­lish and Ger­man lan­guage is required as is the abil­ity to work in a team and the ded­ic­a­tion to carry out the sci­entific work in an autonom­ous way.
