The extension of the Internet into the physical world (Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems) requires the integration of many research areas such as Web technologies, distributed systems, databases, networks and sensor networks. The chair of “Open Distributed Systems” researches scalable technologies and platforms in this area with special focus on Semantic Web and Linked Data technologies for data stream processing. In this domain a plethora of interesting research questions need to be answered to enable scalable distributed data management which is also efficient at a network level.
Currently we are looking for a postdoc researcher for this interesting research area. The successful candidate will do research in an interesting and inspiring group and play an active role in teaching and mentoring students. Particularly, we are looking for candidates with the following expertise:
successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD in computer science
very good language and writing skills in German and English
research expertise with significant publication record in several of the following areas:
a) internet technologies
c) distributed systems
d) distributed database systems
f) semantic Web and Linked Data
g) data stream processing
h) modeling and analysis of Big Data
very good programming skills (C / C++, Java, Python)
interest in challenging scientific problems and motivation for independent goal-driven research
