Research work in the BMBF-funded research project "Einfluss von SiC-Wechselrichtern auf die Lebensdauer von Traktionsbatterien (SiCWell)“ (Influence of SiC Inverters on Traction Battery’s Lifetime). In cooperation with industrial partners, the research assistants will investigate the effects of fast-switching SiC-based power semiconductors on the lifetime of the vehicle battery. Therefore, the aim of this research project is the development of a SiC drive inverter, the investigation of the SiC power electronics’ influence on the load and the lifetime of the battery and its comparison with the currently available power electronics. Based on these results, the research assistants will identify on the one hand optimization potentials in the power electronics hardware and the control and regulation and on the other hand investigate methods for online life diagnostics in order to increase the overall reliability of electric vehicles.

Measurement and evaluation of the aging of lithium-ion batteries under different operating conditions, especially with superposition of high-frequency current ripple, development of a simulation model in Matlab / Simulink, planning of aging tests and test Equipment. PhD thesis preparation is possible. Position 2 - Power electronics, Prof. Dieckerhoff
Design, construction, commissioning and measurement of a SiC inverter, investigation of the impact of SiC- compared to IGBT-inverters on the vehicle battery using experimentally validated simulation models, derivation of load scenarios for the aging tests of the battery, simulation-based investigation of on-board oscillations and their influence on the battery. PhD thesis preparation is possible. Position 3 - Diagnostic Systems, Prof. Gühmann
Development of data-based models for the aging and diagnostics of lithium-ion batteries, development of online life-cycle diagnostics for vehicle applications, development of a measurement and test system for the measurement of lithium-ion batteries, setup of measurement data management. PhD thesis preparation is possible.

Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in electrical engineering or related subjects, knowledge of Matlab / Simulink and / or similar simulation programs, practical and theoretical knowledge of batteries and their aging, basic knowledge of power electronics and the resulting current forms, knowledge of measuring technology and the construction of measuring equipment, fluent in German and English, ability to work in a team. Position 2
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in electrical engineering; very good knowledge and experience in the fields of power electronics, measurement techniques, drive technology, control of converters; practical experience in the development of inverters as well as in the development of electronic hardware is desirable. Very good knowledge of German and English and the ability to work in a team are required. Position 3
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in the field of electrical engineering, automotive systems, computer engineering, computer science, information technology in mechanical engineering, physical engineering, vehicle technology / mechanical engineering or physics.
Knowledge in the following fields is required: data modeling, machine learning, measurement technology, programming knowledge in Python, MATLAB / Simulink or similar. In addition, knowledge in the following fields is desired: automotive engineering, databases and handling with large amounts of data, their analysis and evaluation. Good knowledge of German and English and ability to work in a team are required.
