Research work in the BMBF-fun­ded research pro­ject "Ein­fluss von SiC-Wech­sel­richtern auf die Lebens­dauer von Trak­tions­bat­ter­ien (SiCWell)“ (Influ­ence of SiC Invert­ers on Trac­tion Bat­tery’s Life­time). In cooper­a­tion with indus­trial part­ners, the research assist­ants will invest­ig­ate the effects of fast-switch­ing SiC-based power semi­con­duct­ors on the life­time of the vehicle bat­tery. There­fore, the aim of this research pro­ject is the devel­op­ment of a SiC drive inverter, the invest­ig­a­tion of the SiC power elec­tron­ics’ influ­ence on the load and the life­time of the bat­tery and its com­par­ison with the cur­rently avail­able power elec­tron­ics. Based on these res­ults, the research assist­ants will identify on the one hand optim­iz­a­tion poten­tials in the power elec­tron­ics hard­ware and the con­trol and reg­u­la­tion and on the other hand invest­ig­ate meth­ods for online life dia­gnostics in order to increase the over­all reli­ab­il­ity of elec­tric vehicles.

Meas­ure­ment and eval­u­ation of the aging of lith­ium-ion bat­ter­ies under dif­fer­ent oper­at­ing con­di­tions, espe­cially with super­pos­i­tion of high-fre­quency cur­rent ripple, devel­op­ment of a sim­u­la­tion model in Mat­lab / Sim­ulink, plan­ning of aging tests and test Equip­ment. PhD thesis pre­par­a­tion is pos­sible.
Pos­i­tion 2 - Power elec­tron­ics, Prof. Dieck­er­hoff
Design, con­struc­tion, com­mis­sion­ing and meas­ure­ment of a SiC inverter, invest­ig­a­tion of the impact of SiC- com­pared to IGBT-invert­ers on the vehicle bat­tery using exper­i­ment­ally val­id­ated sim­u­la­tion mod­els, deriv­a­tion of load scen­arios for the aging tests of the bat­tery, sim­u­la­tion-based invest­ig­a­tion of on-board oscil­la­tions and their influ­ence on the bat­tery. PhD thesis pre­par­a­tion is pos­sible.
Pos­i­tion 3 - Dia­gnostic Sys­tems, Prof. Güh­mann
Devel­op­ment of data-based mod­els for the aging and dia­gnostics of lith­ium-ion bat­ter­ies, devel­op­ment of online life-cycle dia­gnostics for vehicle applic­a­tions, devel­op­ment of a meas­ure­ment and test sys­tem for the meas­ure­ment of lith­ium-ion bat­ter­ies, setup of meas­ure­ment data man­age­ment. PhD thesis pre­par­a­tion is pos­sible.

Pos­i­tion 1
Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in elec­trical engin­eer­ing or related sub­jects, know­ledge of Mat­lab / Sim­ulink and / or sim­ilar sim­u­la­tion pro­grams, prac­tical and the­or­et­ical know­ledge of bat­ter­ies and their aging, basic know­ledge of power elec­tron­ics and the res­ult­ing cur­rent forms, know­ledge of meas­ur­ing tech­no­logy and the con­struc­tion of meas­ur­ing equip­ment, flu­ent in Ger­man and Eng­lish, abil­ity to work in a team.
Pos­i­tion 2
Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in elec­trical engin­eer­ing; very good know­ledge and exper­i­ence in the fields of power elec­tron­ics, meas­ure­ment tech­niques, drive tech­no­logy, con­trol of con­vert­ers; prac­tical exper­i­ence in the devel­op­ment of invert­ers as well as in the devel­op­ment of elec­tronic hard­ware is desir­able. Very good know­ledge of Ger­man and Eng­lish and the abil­ity to work in a team are required.
Pos­i­tion 3
Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in the field of elec­trical engin­eer­ing, auto­mot­ive sys­tems, com­puter engin­eer­ing, com­puter sci­ence, inform­a­tion tech­no­logy in mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing, phys­ical engin­eer­ing, vehicle tech­no­logy / mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing or phys­ics.

Know­ledge in the fol­low­ing fields is required: data mod­el­ing, machine learn­ing, meas­ure­ment tech­no­logy, pro­gram­ming know­ledge in Python, MAT­LAB / Sim­ulink or sim­ilar. In addi­tion, know­ledge in the fol­low­ing fields is desired: auto­mot­ive engin­eer­ing, data­bases and hand­ling with large amounts of data, their ana­lysis and eval­u­ation. Good know­ledge of Ger­man and Eng­lish and abil­ity to work in a team are required.
