Work­ing field:

The Pro­cess Dynam­ics and Oper­a­tions Group is look­ing for a new col­league for an excit­ing new research pro­ject in the field of gas puri­fic­a­tion and plant engin­eer­ing. The scope of the pro­ject encom­passes the devel­op­ment of a car­bon cap­ture pro­cess by the usage of novel amine solu­tions and mod­ern mod­el­ing tools. The novel amine solu­tion is exper­i­ment­ally invest­ig­ated in an already exist­ing pilot plant. With the pro­ject, pilot-plant exper­i­ments are car­ried out to invest­ig­ate the novel amine solu­tion in con­sid­er­a­tion of aspects, such as effect­ive­ness, selectiv­ity and long-term sta­bil­ity. The sub­sequent eval­u­ation of the pilot-plant exper­i­ments includes the cal­cu­la­tion of key per­form­ance indic­ator and the devel­op­ment / adap­tion of a pro­cess flow­sheet in dif­fer­ent mod­el­ing envir­on­ments.
Spe­cific tasks within the pro­ject are:
  • the design and plan­ing of pro­cess units and equip­ment
  • des­gin of pro­cess modi­fic­a­tions and imple­ment­a­tion in the exist­ing plant
  • auto­ma­tion of the pilot plant: adjust­ment of the pro­cess con­trol sys­tem to meet safety require­ments
  • design of exper­i­ments and sub­sequent exe­cu­tion of pilot plant exper­i­ments
  • mod­el­ing and sim­u­la­tion of the pro­cess, includ­ing model val­id­a­tion based on exper­i­mental data
  • tech­nical spe­cific­a­tion and pro­cure­ment of plant equip­ment

Require­ments:

Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Dip­lom, Mas­ter or equi­val­ent) in the field of mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing, pro­cess engin­eer­ing, chem­ical engin­eer­ing, or com­par­able field of spe­cial­iz­a­tion. You have know­ledge in the fields of ther­mo­dy­nam­ics and ideally of plant engin­eer­ing. You have a tech­nical under­stand­ing and joy of exper­i­mental work. You also bring com­mu­nic­a­tion skills, assert­ive­ness and a cer­tain will­ing­ness to travel. You think and plan with foresight and respons­ib­il­ity in order to be able to guar­an­tee safe plant oper­a­tion in the long term. We are a very inter­na­tional team. Hence, lan­guage skills in Eng­lish are always of help. Exper­i­ence with ASPEN Plus, Mat­lab and ABB Freel­ance (or com­par­able pro­cess con­trol sys­tem) is desir­able.
