Work­ing field:

The Pro­cess Dynam­ics and Oper­a­tions Group is look­ing for a new col­league for an excit­ing new pro­ject on Chara­ter­iz­a­tion, Sim­u­la­tion and Test­ing of Phys­ical Defoam­ing Meth­ods in Large-scale Plants. The pro­ject is part of a DFG-AiF cluster with cooper­a­tion part­ners across Ger­many. Based on a new test cell exper­i­ments on the form­a­tion of foam will be car­ried out influ­ence by vari­ous micro- and macro-struc­tures.
Spe­cific tasks within the pro­ject are:
  • design of a new test cell to con­duct LIF, PIV, and PTV exper­i­ments based on an exist­ing cell at the depart­ment
  • modi­fic­a­tions to reduce foam­ing (mater­ial/sur­face)
  • exper­i­ments on act­ive anti-foam meth­ods, such as gas pulsa­tion or ultra­sonic sound

Require­ments:

You have a suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in energy and pro­cess engin­eer­ing or alike above aver­age. You have exper­i­ence in plant design, con­struc­tion and oper­a­tion, as well as labor­at­ory exper­i­ence. Ideally, you have a wide know­ledge of optical meas­ure­ment meth­ods, such as LIF and PIV. Fun­da­mental know­ledge of optimal design of exper­i­ments and in meth­ods of cor­rel­a­tion or vari­able reduc­tion (e.g. out­lier elim­in­a­tion or prin­ciple com­pon­ent ana­lysis) would be bene­fi­cial as well. We are a very inter­na­tional team. Hence, lan­guage skills in Eng­lish are always of help.
