Characterization and simulation of group III-nitride semiconductor materials and devices. Development of AlGaN-based nanostructures for LEDs and laser diodes in the ultraviolet spectral range. Characterization of devices (e.g., temperature-dependent electroluminescence, capacitance-voltage, and photoluminescence measurements) on existing experimental setups, which should be expanded continuously. Comparison of characterization results with existing simulation tools, which may be supplemented by own calculations if necessary. Presentation of results for national and international scientific conferences and their publication in international journals. PhD thesis preparation is possible.
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in physics, materials science or electrical Engineering; very good grades desired. Very good knowledge of solid-state and semiconductor physics, especially semiconductor devices. Stong interest in experimental work and programming (control of measuring instruments, data evaluation, simulation). It would be desirable to have experience with characterization methods such as electroluminescence, capacitance-voltage measurements and photoluminescence. Good English language skills are desired.
