Work­ing field:

The aim of the pro­ject is to identify func­tions of and inter­ac­tions between pub­lic­a­tion types in the social sci­ences and human­it­ies (SSH). These Dis­zip­lines are still largely unac­cess­ible to bib­li­o­met­rics, which raises the ques­tion as to whether func­tions of pub­lic­a­tions and cita­tions in SSH dif­fer from those in the sci­ences. The pro­ject will address this ques­tion by con­struct­ing pub­lic­tion data­bases of one field each from the social sci­ences and human­it­ies and identi­fy­ing of dif­fer­ent pub­lic­a­tion types in these fields’ research and com­mu­nic­a­tion pro­cessesthe pro­ject util­ises meth­ods of social net­work ana­lysis, quant­it­at­ive and qual­it­at­ive con­tent ana­lysis, and inter­views. Require­ments:

  • suc­cess­fully com­pleted Uni­versity degree (Dip­lom, Mas­ter or equi­val­ent) in a social sci­ence dis­cip­line
  • excel­lent Ger­man Lan­guage skills
  • excel­lent Eng­lish lan­guage skills,
  • the abil­ity to work inde­pend­ently on the design, organ­isa­tion and con­duct of empir­ical invest­ig­a­tions

The pro­ject com­bines know­ledge and meth­ods from soci­ology of sci­ence, bib­li­o­met­rics and social net­work ana­lysis. The will­ing­ness and abil­ity to mas­ter these fields are expec­ted.
