“Design and ope­ra­tion of sustainable fuel sup­ply chains”

Work­ing field:

  • Ana­ly­sis, (mulit­cri­te­ria) mode­ling and opti­mi­za­tion of future sup­ply chains for pro­duc­tion of bio-hybrid fuels (i.e., a com­bi­na­tion of bio­fuel and power-to-fuel sup­ply chains)
  • Deve­lop­ment of opti­mi­za­tion models of long-term invest­ment decisi­ons and short-term ope­ra­tion
  • App­li­ca­tion of robust opti­mi­za­tion methods in order to cope with short and mid-term vola­ti­lity regar­ding the sup­ply of bio­mass and elec­tri­city
  • Ana­ly­sis and pre­sen­ta­tion of results at inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces and wit­hin pro­ject mee­tings of the “Fuel Sci­ence Cen­ter”
  • Pre­pa­ra­tion of sci­en­ti­fic papers for highly-ran­ked peer-reviewed jour­nals

Require­ments:

  • You hold a PhD or an Uni­ver­sity degree (Mas­ter or equi­va­lent) in Ope­ra­ti­ons Rese­arch, (Indus­trial) Engi­nee­ring, Energy Engi­nee­ring, Envi­ron­men­tal Engi­nee­ring, Envi­ron­men­tal Com­pu­ter sci­ence or a com­pa­ra­ble field.
  • Very good exper­tise in the fields of Ope­ra­ti­ons Manage­ment / Ope­ra­ti­ons Rese­arch as well as mode­ling and opti­mi­za­tion of pro­ces­ses and sup­ply chains.
  • Exper­tise of opti­mi­za­tion soft­ware and com­pu­ter lan­guages.
  • Your work is cha­rac­te­ri­zed by initia­tive, self-moti­va­tion, com­mit­ment, abi­lity to work in a team, and social skills.
  • You have very good com­mand of the Eng­lish lan­guage.
  • An auto­no­mous and struc­tu­red way of working as well as ana­ly­ti­cal thin­king com­plete your pro­file.

What we of­fer:

The posi­tion is held for 2 Jahre and is to be fil­led as soon as pos­si­ble. An exten­sion for ano­t­her 2 years is plan­ned. This is a full-time posi­tion.

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date has the oppor­tu­nity to pur­sue a doc­to­ral degree.

The salary cor­re­sponds to level EG 13 TV-L.
