The selected Postdoctoral Fellow will develop innovative scientific research by strengthening and complementing the already ongoing research activities in the framework of the ERC-funded project: BigEarth - Accurate and Scalable Processing of Big Data in Earth Observation (http://bigearth.eu). Focus of this position will be on analysis of big data in Earth observation, satellite image search/retrieval from massive data archives, machine learning/deep learning. In addition, the candidate will be also asked to contribute to the education activities and to mentor students at the BS, MSc and PhD levels.
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD degree in Computer Science or Applied mathematics
Excellent programming skills and experience in development of information management theory and algorithms, regarding systems for parallel and distributed analysis on large amount of data
A solid track record of research in one or more areas related to the research agenda of the RSiM group
Excellent English oral and written comunication skills (proficiency in German is a plus)
