RWTH Aachen University is a top-ranked technical university with a strong computer science research focus. We are part of the Medical Informatics Initiative projects and work on creating a cross-organisational exchange of health data for research and patient care. Your research will focus on novel methods for reusing data and exchanging data analytics algorithms between healthcare professionals and researchers to enable data-driven use cases such as personalized therapies, phenotyping, or diagnosing rare diseases.

Research Assistant/Associate

We offer a fully fun­ded staff posi­tion at RWTH Uni­ver­sity with the pos­si­bi­lity to write a dis­ser­ta­tion in a col­la­bo­ra­tive rese­arch envi­ron­ment across disci­pline bor­ders, focu­sing on topics of data sci­ence in the fol­lo­wing areas:

  • Seman­tic inter­ope­ra­bi­lity and data reusa­bi­lity
  • Dis­tri­bu­ted Sys­tems
  • Data Dri­ven Medi­cine
  • Open Sci­ence

Though your work, you will advance in data sci­ence work­flows, con­tai­ne­ri­za­tion tech­no­lo­gies, health­care inter­ope­ra­bi­lity stan­dards and con­tri­bute to the tea­ching of the depart­ment.

Require­ments:

  • You gra­dua­ted an M.Sc. in com­pu­ter sci­ence, mathe­ma­tics, engi­nee­ring, phy­sics or rela­ted quan­ti­ta­tive sci­en­ces (e .g. bio­in­for­ma­tics or medi­cal infor­ma­tics) with out­stan­ding gra­des
  • You are highly moti­va­ted to con­duct rese­arch in the afo­re­men­tio­ned fields and con­tri­bute to the tea­ching offer of the chair

What we of­fer:

The posi­tion is 3 years and is to be fil­led by June 1, 2019. The posi­tion is limi­ted to 3 years with the pos­si­bi­lity of pro­lon­ga­tion. This is a full-time posi­tion.

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date has the oppor­tu­nity to pur­sue a doc­to­ral degree.

The salary cor­re­sponds to level E13 TV-L.
