Work­ing field:

Within the BMBF-fun­ded pro­ject "Micro­elec­tronic sys­tem for cell sep­ar­a­tion - Sep­aDiElo", sys­tems for dielec­tro­phor­etic cell sep­ar­a­tion are to be developed. The inter­dis­cip­lin­ary work will take place in the Joint Lab Bio­elec­tron­ics of the TU Ber­lin and the IHP Leib­niz Insti­tute Frank­furt/Oder. The pro­ject-spe­cific tasks include:
  • Par­ti­cip­a­tion in sys­tem con­struc­tion of a micro­fluidic cell sep­ar­a­tion sys­tem on an elec­tronic basis for applic­a­tions in bio­tech­no­logy.
  • Cul­tiv­a­tion of het­ero­trophic microal­gae with micro­scopic and meta­bolic ana­lysis.
  • Com­mis­sion­ing of a labor­at­ory meas­ur­ing sta­tion for micro­fluidic exper­i­ments, sys­tem tests with dif­fer­ent indus­tri­ally used microor­gan­isms (espe­cially microal­gae) to invest­ig­ate their separ­ab­il­ity by vari­ation of elec­trical para­met­ers, chan­nel and elec­trode geo­metry.
  • Par­ti­cip­a­tion in the devel­op­ment of an applic­a­tion per­spect­ive for cor­res­pond­ing products.

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted sci­entific uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equivlaent) in the field of bio­tech­no­logy with proven micro­bi­o­lo­gical and engin­eer­ing spe­cial­iz­a­tions in the field of indus­trial bio­tech­no­logy.
  • Demon­strably good know­ledge of sterile work, cul­tiv­a­tion of microor­gan­isms, basic ana­lyt­ical meth­ods, present­a­tion of sci­entific res­ults and the abil­ity to work inter­dis­cip­lin­ary in a pro­ject con­sor­tium.
  • Advant­age­ous addi­tional exper­i­ences: Exper­i­ence in the fer­ment­a­tion of microor­gan­isms, micro­scopy or flow cyto­metry; exper­i­ence in the fields of micro­fluidics, elec­tronic sensor tech­no­logy or actu­at­ors or prac­tical exper­i­ence in the field of elec­tron­ics/micro­elec­tron­ics/microsys­tems tech­no­logy as well as know­ledge of CAD or EDA soft­ware.
  • The can­did­ate should be char­ac­ter­ized by open com­mu­nic­a­tion and good lan­guage skills in Ger­man and Eng­lish.
