You will be working on the development and implementation of mathematical algorithms for large-scale optimization problems in the field of energy system modeling as part of the interdisciplinary joint project UNSEEN funded by the BMWi.
The research task focuses on the solution of linear and mixed-integer programs using high-performance computing. In addition, Berlin offers a rich mathematics landscape, which is particularly interesting for young scientists thanks to the cluster of excellence MATH+ with the Berlin Mathematical School for graduate studies.

successful completed university degree (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in Mathematics or a closely related course of studies
in depth knowledge of algorithmic discrete mathematics, especially of linear and mixed-integer programs
advanced knowledge of at least one prgramming language
experience in using optimization software
experience with implementing parallel algorithms
an independent and goal-oriented way of working
ability to cooperative and communicative scientific collaboration with partners of the joint project
good knowledge of the German and English language
