Research assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

under the reserve that funds are granted - part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

You will be working on the development and implementation of mathematical algorithms for large-scale optimization problems in the field of energy system modeling as part of the interdisciplinary joint project UNSEEN funded by the BMWi.

The research task focuses on the solution of linear and mixed-integer programs using high-performance computing. In addition, Berlin offers a rich mathematics landscape, which is particularly interesting for young scientists thanks to the cluster of excellence MATH+ with the Berlin Mathematical School for graduate studies.

Further information on this position will be given by Prof. Dr. Thorsten Koch
(E-Mail: koch@math.tu-berlin.de).

Requirements:

  • successful completed university degree (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in Mathematics or a closely related course of studies
  • in depth knowledge of algorithmic discrete mathematics, especially of linear and mixed-integer programs
  • advanced knowledge of at least one prgramming language
  • experience in using optimization software
  • experience with implementing parallel algorithms
  • an independent and goal-oriented way of working
  • ability to cooperative and communicative scientific collaboration with partners of the joint project
  • good knowledge of the German and English language

How to apply:

Please send your application with the reference number and the usual documents preferably by e-mail to aschulz@math.tu-berlin.de or in writing to Technische Universität Berlin - Der Präsident - Fakultät II, Institut für Mathematik, Prof. Dr. Koch, Sekr. MA 6-2, Straße des 17. Juni 136, 10623 Berlin.

To ensure equal opportunities between women and men, applications by women with the required qualifications are explicitly desired. Qualified individuals with disabilities will be favored. The TU Berlin values the diversity of its members and is committed to the goals of equal opportunities.

Please send copies only. Original documents will not be returned.
