Cluster of Excellence "Science of Intelligence (SCoI)" for outstanding research projects
under the reserve that funds are granted
What are the principles of intelligence shared by all forms of intelligence, whether artificial or biological, whether robot, computer program, human or animal? And how can we apply these principles to create intelligent technologies?
Answering these questions in an ethically responsible way is the principal scientific goal of the new Cluster of Excellence “Science of Intelligence” (www.scienceofintelligence.de). The cluster brings together researchers from a variety of analytical and synthetic disciplines - artificial intelligence, machine learning, control, robotics, computer Vision, Behavioral Biology, Psychology, Educational Science, Neuroscience and Philosophy – who join forces in creating a multidisciplinary research program between universities and research institutions in Berlin.
The interdisciplinary research projects (https://www.scienceofintelligence.de/research/projects) combine analytical and synthetic research and address key aspects of individual, social and collective intelligence.
Public positioning and presentation of the cluster of excellence and its activities internally and externally (German and English) in coordination with the cluster spokesperson and management
Target-oriented communication of scientific content towards various multipliers in media, science, politics, business, public institutions and associations
Media and press relations: Planning and organization of press events, preparation of press releases and coordination with the press departments of the participating institutions
Conceptual and editorial development of the cluster’s websites and social media channels
Conception, organization and implementation of public and in-house events
Creating and communicating complex scientific and technical concepts accessible to non-specialist audiences (media, multipliers and citizens), eg. during the Long Night of the Sciences
Maintaining contacts with journalists as well as the press offices of the participating universities and institutions at SCIoI
Coordination and implementation of PR activities in German and English, coordination of public relations in the field of education
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) preferably in the field of media and communication, journalism, marketing / PR or comparable degree program or natural sciences
Strong interest in the cluster’s research fields as well as the willingness to familiarize with it
Solid practical knowledge in public relations and online communication
Knowledge and practical experience in science marketing, social media and event management
Strong competence in copywriting and editing; creativity and design skills
Expert user of Office package, good knowledge of common CMS (Wordpress, Typo3, etc.),
Proficiency in Adobe, especially Acrobat and InDesign
Ideally, work experience in higher education and knowledge of higher education structures
Confidence in representing the Cluster externally and dealing with high-ranking representatives from science, research and funding agencies as well as with the different management levels of the university
Strong sense of responsibility, initiative, commitment and flexibility, excellent team working skills
Excellent German language skills, confident and articulate expression skills as well as excellent spoken and written English language skills
