RWTH Aachen - Institute of Electrical Machines

The Institute of Electrical Machines (IEM) of RWTH Aachen University is a worldwide leading and recognized research institute specialized in the field of electromagnetic energy conversion and electrical drives. IEM collaborates with well-known partners in a large number of public and industrial funded research projects. These close contacts in the areas of industrial application, the automotive industry and regenerative energy production ensure that our research is up-to-date and relevant to the application. In addition, promising basic topics are being researched. Our team-oriented working style gives you the freedom you need to work scientifically with a high degree of motivation, personal responsibility and creativity.
The interdisciplinary post graduate program "Integrated Energy Supply Modules for Roadbound E-Mobility" (mobilEM) is funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). The overall objective is the investigation of the physical foundations of electro-chemical energy storage and its combination with novel fuel-operated range extender units. We offer a 3-year PhD fellowship (fast track for qualified applicants with bachelor’s degree possible), an international and interdisciplinary academic network with fellow researchers and an extensive qualification and mentoring program.
