CBI is the corner­stone of a rap­idly expand­ing bioen­gin­eer­ing eco­sys­tem in the Munich sci­ence area; includ­ing the Research Cen­ter Trans­laTUM and the Helm­holtz Pion­eer Cam­pus, which integ­rate bioen­gin­eer­ing with onco­logy and meta­bolic dis­orders, respect­ively. CBI sci­ent­ists develop next-gen­er­a­tion ima­ging and sens­ing meth­ods to meas­ure pre­vi­ously inac­cess­ible prop­er­ties of liv­ing sys­tems, hence, cata­lyz­ing break­throughs in bio­logy, medi­cine and the envir­on­ment. Com­pris­ing 11 inter-dis­cip­lin­ary labor­at­or­ies and sci­ent­ists from more than 25 coun­tries, CBI offers state-of-the-art infra­struc­ture for innov­at­ive research and a per­fect envir­on­ment to accel­er­ate your career. Our research aims to shift the paradigm of bio­lo­gical dis­cov­ery and trans­la­tion to address major health chal­lenges of our time and develop the med­ical solu­tions of tomor­row.

We now seek a highly qual­i­fied and motiv­ated IT admin­is­trator (f/m/d) to sup­port our state-of-the-art IT infra­struc­ture.

IT admin­is­trator (f/m/d)

Working field:

The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate will be pivotal in admin­is­trat­ing, main­tain­ing and fur­ther devel­op­ing our insti­tute’s IT infra­struc­ture. In con­cert with the data cen­ters of the Helm­holtz Zen­trum München and the Tech­nical Uni­versity of Munich, you will sup­port our sci­ent­ists and admin­is­trat­ive staff in IT mat­ters with your expert know­ledge. Bio­lo­gical and med­ical ima­ging highly depends on cut­ting-edge image recon­struc­tion and AI-driven data ana­lysis, requir­ing state-of-the-art hard­ware and soft­ware solu­tions. To this end, you will provide sup­port on hard­ware and soft­ware-related mat­ters and main­tain our IT hard­ware and our insti­tute net­work. Due to the high amount of sens­it­ive data gen­er­ated by mod­ern ima­ging tech­niques, a par­tic­u­lar focus will be on secure and effi­cient stor­age and access­ib­il­ity of ima­ging data. You will also provide your expert­ise to sup­port our high-per­form­ance com­put­ing require­ments. Fur­ther­more, you will provide tech­nical sup­port for our web pres­ence.


  • High motiv­a­tion, lead­er­ship and com­mit­ment to excel­lence
  • Excel­lent bach­elor or mas­ter degree in Com­puter Sci­ence or a sim­ilar field
  • Strong back­ground in IT hard­ware, soft­ware main­ten­ance and net­work admin­is­tra­tion
  • Excel­lent com­puter lit­er­acy in oper­at­ing sys­tems and user applic­a­tions (e.g. office applic­a­tions, VoIP)
  • Exper­i­ence in admin­is­ter­ing web­sites (Typo3, HTML) and social media (e.g. Face­book, Twit­ter, LinkedIn)
  • Team player skills and enthu­si­asm to work in a multi-dis­cip­lin­ary, col­lab­or­at­ive envir­on­ment
  • Excel­lent com­mand of the Eng­lish and Ger­man lan­guage

Pre­ferred skills include:
  • Strong expert­ise in state-of-the-art data stor­age solu­tions and high-per­form­ance com­put­ing
  • Pro­gram­ming and main­ten­ance skills (e.g. Mat­lab, C/C++, Lab­VIEW)
  • Exper­i­ence in image pro­cessing and algorithm devel­op­ment
