Research assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

  • Collaboration in the research of the department and independent work on a research project in the field of precision machining
  • Development of technologies for the production of complex high-performance optics from brittle-hard materials
  • Design and construction of a micro-optical prototype for the precise and resilient integration of high-power sources for quantum communication
  • Planning, execution and evaluation of experimental machining tests
  • Transfer of findings into teaching and knowledge transfer to industry
  • Presentation of research results to industry representatives and scientists and scientists at (inter)national specialist conferences and trade fairs
  • international, scientific travel activities

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (Diplom, Master or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related engineering sciences
  • in-depth knowledge in the field of ultra-precision machining and machining of brittle-hard materials using diamond tools
  • in-depth knowledge of ultra-precision machine tools and technologies for ultrasonic-assisted machining
  • Knowledge in the areas of design, optical and tactile measurement technology and process monitoring
  • Good command of German and/or English required; willingness to learn either English or German is expected

Desirable:

  • Willingness to undertake business trips (national, international)
  • Confident in working with MS Office products
  • Prior knowledge in the field of statistical experimental design and experience in project management
  • Independent, systematic and structured way of working
  • Willingness to work responsibly in laboratories and on machine systems (incl. maintenance and care)
