Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty II - Institute of Chemistry/ Max-Volmer-Laboratory for Biophysical Chemistry
Research Assistant (PhD candidate) - 0.65 working time - salary grade 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen
Research in the Biomolecular Modelling Group in the field of Computational Chemistry: Our Research is mainly focussed on molecular dynamics simulations of various biological photoreceptors combined with the computation of spectroscopic properties by means of quantum mechanical hybrid methods and molecular mechanical hybrid methods. The PhD candidate will investigate the structural and dynamical properties of the phytochrome photoreceptor at a theoretical level and in tight collaboration with experimental groups. Special emphasis will be given to elucidating the protonation induced structural changes of photochromes in their late intermediate states by means of molecular dynamics simulations. This project is integrated in the SFB 1078 Collaborative Research Center "Protonation Dynamics in Protein Function. PhD thesis preparation is possible.
Successful candidates must have completed a university degree (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in physics, chemistry or in biochemistry; experience with computational chemistry methods and strong background in programming. / More information on the job can be obtained from Prof. Dr. Andrea Mroginski (Tel.: +49 (0)30 314-26500, email@example.com).
