Technische Universität Berlin, Faculty IV - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Institute of High-Frequency and Semiconductor System Technologies, invites applications for a position of a
University Professor - salary grade W3
in the field of "High Frequency Technologies and Photonics".
Research in the area of "High Frequency Technologies and Photonics" with emphasis on at least one of the following fields:
Optical transmission technologies
Integrated optoelectronic systems
Photonics-based sensor systems
Close cooperation is expected with neighbouring chairs e.g. in the areas of communications engineering, photonics, microelectronics, and sensor systems. The teaching assignment includes the provision of courses related to the subject in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs offered by the Faculty IV - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Moreover, cooperation, setup and generation of cooperation with industrial and non-industrial research in the area of High Frequency Technologies and Photonics shall be striven for.
Existing collaborations shall be further strengthened and extended. in particular with the Leibniz Institute IHP in Frankfurt/Oder within the context of the "Joint Lab Si Photonics" and further associated institutes such as Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI, Berlin), Ferdinand Braun Institute (Leibnitz Institut fuer Hoechstfrequenztechnik, FBH, Berlin), and Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM, Berlin).
Successful applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance ith § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education, qualified achievements in research (PhD), post-doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent scientific qualification (scientific papers) as well as pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be given proof of by a teaching portfolio (for more information see TUB website, quick access no. 144242).
Teaching experience, competence in the management of large working-groups, research and development in the areas of silicon photonic devices and electronic photonic sub-systems, proof of a semi-industrial or industrial activity in the area of optoelectronic semiconductor technology, acquisition of external funding above average, and/or experience in monolithic electronic photonic integration on silicon are desired. The willingness to offer English-language teaching is also a prerequisite. The willingness to learn German is expected from Non-German speaking applicants.
