Uni­ver­sity Pro­fes­sor - salary grade W3

in the field of "High Fre­quency Tech­no­lo­gies and Photon­ics".

Work­ing field:

Research in the area of "High Fre­quency Tech­no­lo­gies and Photon­ics" with emphasis on at least one of the fol­low­ing fields:
  • Optical trans­mis­sion tech­no­lo­gies
  • Integ­rated opto­elec­tronic sys­tems
  • Photon­ics-based sensor sys­tems
Close cooper­a­tion is expec­ted with neigh­bour­ing chairs e.g. in the areas of com­mu­nic­a­tions engin­eer­ing, photon­ics, micro­elec­tron­ics, and sensor sys­tems. The teach­ing assign­ment includes the pro­vi­sion of courses related to the sub­ject in the Bach­elor's and Mas­ter's degree pro­grams offered by the Fac­ulty IV - Elec­trical Engin­eer­ing and Com­puter Sci­ence. Moreover, cooper­a­tion, setup and gen­er­a­tion of cooper­a­tion with indus­trial and non-indus­trial research in the area of High Fre­quency Tech­no­lo­gies and Photon­ics shall be striven for.
Exist­ing col­lab­or­a­tions shall be fur­ther strengthened and exten­ded. in par­tic­u­lar with the Leib­niz Insti­tute IHP in Frank­furt/Oder within the con­text of the "Joint Lab Si Photon­ics" and fur­ther asso­ci­ated insti­tutes such as Fraunhofer Hein­rich Hertz Insti­tute (HHI, Ber­lin), Ferdin­and Braun Insti­tute (Leib­n­itz Insti­tut fuer Hoech­st­fre­quen­z­tech­nik, FBH, Ber­lin), and Fraunhofer Insti­tute for Reli­ab­il­ity and Microin­teg­ra­tion (IZM, Ber­lin).


Suc­cess­ful applic­ants must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance ith § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act), includ­ing a com­pleted aca­demic edu­ca­tion, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (PhD), post-doc­toral lec­ture qual­i­fic­a­tion (Habil­it­a­tion) or equi­val­ent sci­entific qual­i­fic­a­tion (sci­entific papers) as well as ped­ago­gical didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for more inform­a­tion see TUB web­site, quick access no. 144242).
Teach­ing exper­i­ence, com­pet­ence in the man­age­ment of large work­ing-groups, research and devel­op­ment in the areas of sil­icon photonic devices and elec­tronic photonic sub-sys­tems, proof of a semi-indus­trial or indus­trial activ­ity in the area of opto­elec­tronic semi­con­ductor tech­no­logy, acquis­i­tion of external fund­ing above aver­age, and/or exper­i­ence in mono­lithic elec­tronic photonic integ­ra­tion on sil­icon are desired. The will­ing­ness to offer Eng­lish-lan­guage teach­ing is also a pre­requis­ite. The will­ing­ness to learn Ger­man is expec­ted from Non-Ger­man speak­ing applic­ants.
