Sci­ent­ist* for quantum com­mu­nic­a­tion sys­tems and net­works - INNOV­ATOR IN SCI­ENCE

Working field:

Quantum optical com­mu­nic­a­tions: Devel­op­ment and exper­i­mental eval­u­ation of innov­at­ive solu­tions.

Requirements:

  • You hold an out­stand­ing sci­entific degree (e.g. mas­ter degree) in phys­ics or elec­trical engin­eer­ing
  • in-depth know­ledge of quantum com­mu­nic­a­tions, optical com­pon­ents (laser, mod­u­lat­ors, pho­to­de­tect­ors), single-photon pro­cessing, optical propaga­tion, high-speed elec­tron­ics
  • exper­i­ence with quantum key dis­tri­bu­tion sys­tems
  • lab exper­i­ence to gen­er­ate, trans­mit and receive optical sig­nals
  • good pro­gram­ming skills (e.g., Python, C/C++, Mat­lab, …)
  • mod­el­ling of optical propaga­tion effects
  • abil­ity to model sys­tems and to per­form their exper­i­mental veri­fic­a­tion
  • con­sidered as assets: exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion of new pro­jects.

We are look­ing for cre­at­ive, highly motiv­ated, pro­act­ive, tar­get-ori­ented and ana­lyt­ical thinkers.

What we offer:

You will carry out research pro­jects on quantum optical com­mu­nic­a­tions. You will work on exper­i­mental demon­strat­ors of quantum key dis­tri­bu­tion with a focus on the integ­ra­tion in the tele­com­mu­nic­a­tion net­work. You will take part in the design of quantum key dis­tri­bu­tion sys­tems. Your con­cep­tual ana­lyses and optim­iz­a­tion of pro­to­cols shall pre­pare and sup­port the imple­ment­a­tion of new quantum com­mu­nic­a­tion demon­strat­ors. Both fiber and free-space chan­nels are con­sidered. You will exploit the pro­ject res­ults for dis­sem­in­a­tion, pro­duc­tion of intel­lec­tual prop­erty and acquis­i­tion of new research pro­jects. We offer the pos­sib­il­ity to work on a PhD if you do not have one.
