The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Working field:

Die Pro­fes­sur ver­tritt den The­men­be­reich Stoff- und Was­ser­haus­halt von Wald­stand­or­ten in For­schung, Lehre und Öffent­lich­keits­trans­fer. Im Zen­trum der For­schung ste­hen die Her­aus­for­de­run­gen des glo­ba­len Wan­dels für eine stand­ort­ge­rechte Eta­blie­rung, Trans­for­ma­tion und Nut­zung der Wäl­der. Die Erfor­schung des Boden­was­ser­haus­halts ist dabei, auf­grund zuneh­men­der Tro­cken­heit und sich dar­aus erge­ben­der Pro­bleme bzgl. der Bereit­stel­lung und des Manage­ments von Öko­sys­tem­leis­tun­gen der Wäl­der (bspw. Was­ser­ver­füg­bar­keit und Boden­schutz), von zen­tra­ler Bedeu­tung. Dar­aus ergibt sich die Not­wen­dig­keit der Erfas­sung von Stoff- und Was­ser­flüs­sen auf Stand­ort­ebene sowie gege­be­nen­falls eine modell­ge­stützte Bewer­tung und Vor­her­sage der Was­ser­ver­füg­bar­keit. Die Pro­fes­sur stellt somit die Ver­bin­dung zwi­schen Stand­ort und Land­schafts­maß­stab her und ist eng an die For­schungs­pro­fil­li­nie Ener­gie, Mobi­li­tät und Umwelt / The­men­be­reich Was­ser­for­schung der TU Dres­den ange­bun­den.

Den Schwer­punkt in der Lehre bil­den die Bache­lor- und Mas­ter­stu­di­en­gänge „Forst­wis­sen­schaf­ten“ und der eng­lisch­spra­chige Mas­ter­stu­di­en­gang „Tro­pi­cal Forestry“. Erwar­tet wer­den zudem eigen­stän­dige Lehr­bei­träge in wei­te­ren Stu­di­en­gän­gen der Fakul­tät Umwelt­wis­sen­schaf­ten, z. B. in den Mas­ter­stu­di­en­gän­gen „Raum­ent­wick­lung und Natur­res­sour­cen­ma­nage­ment“ und „Hydro­sci­ence and Engi­nee­ring“, sowie die Bereit­schaft zur akti­ven Mit­wir­kung in der aka­de­mi­schen Selbst­ver­wal­tung.


We are loo­king for an inter­na­tio­nally renow­ned sci­en­tist with pro­found know­ledge and expe­ri­ence in the ana­ly­sis of soil phy­si­cal pro­per­ties in the labo­ra­tory and in the field as well as expe­ri­ence in and affi­nity with forest site sur­vey. Ide­ally, your rese­arch is rela­ted to land­s­cape-scale ana­ly­ses and model­ling of the soil water balance of forest sites. We expect visi­bi­lity in the inter­na­tio­nal rese­arch com­mu­nity and expe­ri­ence in acqui­ring third-party fun­ding. The abi­lity to con­duct lec­tures in Eng­lish is a pre­re­qui­site. We also expect expe­ri­ence in inter­di­sci­pli­nary rese­arch and the wil­ling­ness to actively coope­rate with rese­ar­chers from other disci­pli­nes wit­hin the Faculty of Envi­ron­men­tal Sci­en­ces and TU Dres­den. We expect your active par­ti­ci­pa­tion in CIP­SEM (Cen­ter for Inter­na­tio­nal Post­gra­duate Stu­dies of Envi­ron­men­tal Manage­ment) and col­la­bo­ra­tion with the Dres­den-based UNU-Insti­tute for Inte­gra­ted Manage­ment of Mate­rial Flu­xes and Resour­ces (UNU-FLO­RES).
