Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Bio­tech­no­logy Centre (BIO­TEC), Rese­arch Group “Struc­tu­ral Bio­in­for­ma­tics”

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch and Teaching Fel­low / Post­doc Posi­tion

(Sub­jec­ted to per­so­nal qua­li­fi­ca­tion and remu­n­e­ra­ted accord­ing to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The Rese­arch Group “Struc­tu­ral Bio­in­for­ma­tics” (Dr. M. Teresa Pisa­barro) is invit­ing app­li­ca­ti­ons to working on com­pu­ter simu­la­tion of bio­ma­cro­mole­cu­lar sys­tems and ratio­nal engi­nee­ring.
The posi­tion will be avail­able from 01.04.2017 and is limi­ted to 3 years with the pos­si­bi­lity to be exten­ded upon suc­cess. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz – Wiss­ZeitVG). The posi­tion aims at obtai­ning fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion.

Work­ing field:

Sui­ta­ble app­li­cants will work on cha­rac­te­ri­sa­tion of struc­ture-func­tion rela­ti­ons­hips and com­pu­ter-aided simu­la­tion of bio­ma­cro­mole­cu­lar sys­tems as well as ratio­nal engi­nee­ring in a mul­ti­di­sci­pli­nary and highly col­la­bo­ra­tive envi­ron­ment. The suc­cess­ful can­di­date will be also invol­ved in teaching (in Eng­lish) in our Mole­cu­lar Bio­en­gi­nee­ring and Nano­bio­phy­sics inter­na­tio­nal Mas­ter Pro­gram­mes.

Require­ments:

Sui­ta­ble can­di­da­tes should have: a uni­ver­sity and Ph.D. degree in -or rela­ted to- struc­tu­ral and com­pu­ta­tio­nal bio­logy/phy­sics/che­mis­try; out­stan­ding inter­na­tio­nally reco­gni­zed sci­en­ti­fic accom­plish­ments in the areas of struc­tu­ral and com­pu­ta­tio­nal bio­logy/che­mis­try; strong com­pu­ta­tio­nal back­ground; expe­ri­ence with mole­cu­lar dyna­mics simu­la­ti­ons of pro­te­ins, DNA and/or GAGs, and in par­ti­cu­lar with AMBER; high moti­va­tion to work in a mul­ti­di­sci­pli­nary, inter­na­tio­nal and highly col­la­bo­ra­tive envi­ron­ment in simu­la­tion of bio­ma­cro­mole­cu­lar sys­tems and ratio­nal engi­nee­ring; excel­lent wri­ting and com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills in Eng­lish (Ger­man is not requi­red to work in our group).

The Rese­arch Group “Struc­tu­ral Bio­in­for­ma­tics” and the BIO­TEC are excel­lently equip­ped and pro­vide out­stan­ding working con­di­ti­ons in a very inter­na­tio­nal envi­ron­ment. The group has also access to the super­com­pu­ting faci­li­ties of the TU Dres­den (ZIH).

The Bio­tech­no­logy Centre (BIO­TEC) of the TU Dres­den is an inter­na­tio­nal and inter­di­sci­pli­nary insti­tute focu­sed on mole­cu­lar bio-engi­nee­ring, pro­teo­mics, geno­mics, bio­phy­sics, stem cells and com­pu­ta­tio­nal bio­logy.
