Research Assistant – 0.5 working time - salary grade 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen – 2nd qualification period (PostDoc)
Deliver teaching inputs to design studios (Master in Architecture, Master in Urban Design), preparation and delivery of lectures, seminars and study trips (required languages German and English).
Assist in the drafting and delivery of academic research proposals with following focal points
Impact of migration on the urbanisation processes in Germany and in the international context.
Translocal urban practices building on the current DFG-funded research „Transnationale Produktionsräume“ (MI 1893/2-1) at the Habitat Unit.
Contribute to a planned interdisciplinary PhD School through teaching inputs.
Assist the Chair in conceptualising and delivering teaching assignments, in the management of research projects and other organisational tasks at the Habitat Unit.
Successful candidates must have completed a university degree (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in urban sociology, sociology, urban geography or related courses and completed their PhD in a subject related to urban studies.
Substantive experience in delivering interdisciplinary research and teaching within the fields of urban studies, preferably in the areas of urban development and migration.
Extensive knowledge of interdisciplinary research methods and urban theory, including a knowledge of critical urban theory related to urbanization processes in the Global South.
International research experience, preferably in English-speaking countries.
Excellent English language skills.
