The Process Dynamics and Operations Group is looking for a new colleague for an exciting new research project in the field of gas purification and plant engineering. The scope of the project encompasses the development of a carbon capture process by the usage of novel amine solutions and modern modeling tools. The novel amine solution is experimentally investigated in an already existing pilot plant. With the project, pilot-plant experiments are carried out to investigate the novel amine solution in consideration of aspects, such as effectiveness, selectivity and long-term stability. The subsequent evaluation of the pilot-plant experiments includes the calculation of key performance indicator and the development / adaption of a process flowsheet in different modeling environments.
Specific tasks within the project are:
the design and planing of process units and equipment
desgin of process modifications and implementation in the existing plant
automation of the pilot plant: adjustment of the process control system to meet safety requirements
design of experiments and subsequent execution of pilot plant experiments
modeling and simulation of the process, including model validation based on experimental data
technical specification and procurement of plant equipment
Successfully completed university degree (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in the field of mechanical engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering, or comparable field of specialization. You have knowledge in the fields of thermodynamics and ideally of plant engineering. You have a technical understanding and joy of experimental work. You also bring communication skills, assertiveness and a certain willingness to travel. You think and plan with foresight and responsibility in order to be able to guarantee safe plant operation in the long term. We are a very international team. Hence, language skills in English are always of help. Experience with ASPEN Plus, Matlab and ABB Freelance (or comparable process control system) is desirable.
