The aim of the project is to identify functions of and interactions between publication types in the social sciences and humanities (SSH). These Disziplines are still largely unaccessible to bibliometrics, which raises the question as to whether functions of publications and citations in SSH differ from those in the sciences. The project will address this question by constructing publiction databases of one field each from the social sciences and humanities and identifying of different publication types in these fields’ research and communication processesthe project utilises methods of social network analysis, quantitative and qualitative content analysis, and interviews.
