The Chair of Trans­port Sys­tems Plan­ning and Trans­port Telemat­ics (VSP) deals with mod­el­ing and sim­u­la­tion of traffic, eval­u­ation of trans­port pro­jects, ana­lysis of innov­a­tions such as autonom­ous driv­ing / mobil­ity-as-a-ser­vice as well as sus­tain­able design of trans­port sys­tems. We develop an open-source soft­ware for agent-based sim­u­la­tion of traffic sys­tems (www.matsim.org), which we are con­stantly improv­ing together with a com­munity of inter­na­tional part­ners accord­ing to the latest soft­ware stand­ards (Git, Con­tinu­ous Integ­ra­tion, Cluster Com­put­ing, ...).

Work­ing field:

  • Fur­ther devel­op­ment of multi-agent traffic sim­u­la­tions (www.matsim.org).
  • Collaboration in research pro­jects related to afore­men­tioned top­ics.
  • Col­lab­or­a­tion in teach­ing.
  • Cooper­a­tion with national and inter­na­tional part­ners.

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted stud­ies (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in com­puter sci­ence or trans­port with a focus on trans­port inform­at­ics.
  • Exper­i­ence in object-ori­ented soft­ware devel­op­ment.
  • Very good pro­gram­ming skills in Java.
  • Exper­i­ence with lar­ger pro­gram­ming pro­jects.
  • Good Eng­lish lan­guage skills, writ­ten and spoken.
  • Good ana­lyt­ical skills, abil­ity to work in a team.
Addi­tional desir­able skills:
  • Know­ledge in terms of the applic­a­tion of the sim­u­la­tion soft­ware MAT­Sim.
  • Mul­tidiscip­lin­ary ori­ent­a­tion.
